AMPP staff members have considerable expertise in asphalt materials and pavements research, including asphalt design, performance and construction, pavement preservation, and warm-mix asphalt additives.

In addition they have undertaken projects associated with sustainability, including development and use of biomaterials in asphalt materials as rejuvenators, warm mix asphalt, biopolymers and other applications. Chris Williams is the AMPP program manager and a professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE). Also conducting AMPP research are several Iowa State graduate students.
